Russell the first generation Lazair was quite different than even your Series I. Take a look. Looks like Dale pushing ! There may have been other early prototype configurations that I'm not aware of also.

The phase two prototypes incorporated a "bicycle" bananna seat and if you look closely cables run internally to the ailerons. This design is very close to the layout of your Series I. That's Peter Corley !

Look at the rapid evolution. Tail skids, painted D-cell, fabric , and/or Dacron. Even has stripes for decoration.

i had the same sling seat model and put a bigger tank in it was a little tail heavy but i adjusted some of it out with the control rod ends at the ruddervators. not all of it i did not want it going the other way with an empty tank. same deal when it got pranged by Murray, it was rebuilt the same as Shannons with the 'tundra' kit. and the tank bracket was moved forward a bit and brougt the cg back to were it was with 5ltr tank. with the sling seat heavier pilots said it seemed more aft for them with full 10lts fuel. i was (still am )pretty light 50/55kg.

The evolution continued with the Series II's. This is an early II without the ruddervator control coupler.

Second generation Series II with control coupler. Later models still could be outfitted with the toe operated disc brakes.

Early prototype Series III. Note lack of aileron pushrods running up wing struts and single blade ground adjustable props. Dave Herron owned this plane.

you missed the awesome line in russel's letter from ultra flight. the plane can be "foot launched or you can use wheels". foot launching is the primary method!

i've never seen a pic of an early lazair with the engines near the struts, that is way too cool of a pic to keep to your chest for so long shannon - what other gems are in that collection!!!!!!!!!!!
