March 21, North York, ON: Weather-wise + Pre-flight Walk-arounds. 3rdfloor auditorium, 4900 Yonge Street from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Weather is the most critical and complex variable that affects flying. But you don't have to be a meteorologist to understand weather or to make sound weather flight decisions. Being weather-wise — the ability to integrate official reports and forecasts with what's outside your cockpit — is a valuable skill. Wouldn't you like to be weather-wise? Continuing on with the pre-flight preparations, System Safety’s Will Boles will then explain how to perform a walk-around of an aircraft from the maintenance perspective (especially after it hasn’t been flown for a period of time). This is a good review for anyone who owns an aircraft or who rents an aircraft. This presentation will help you become more aware of areas of concern for the aircraft prior to the wheels leaving the ground. The aircraft will be covered from the spinner to the tail navigation light lens and from wingtip to wingtip. For more information contact Transport Canada System Safety at 416-952-0175 or visit www.tc.gc.ca/OntarioRegion/civilaviatio ... minars.htm.

March 22, Winnipeg, MB: Kevin Psutka will speak at Manitoba Aviation Council's Manitoba Takes Wing conference 22 March. Please see http://www.manitobaaviationcouncil.ca/c ... eIntro.php for conference and registration details.

March 23, Winnipeg, MB: The COPA Board of Directors and COPA President Kevin Psutka will provide an update and engage in a general discussion of issues important to you. This is an opportunity to provide your input directly to the COPA Board. CASARA Training Centre, St Andrews Airport, start time 7pm. Contact John Davidson jdavidson@copanational.org 204-895-4523.
March 24, Calgary, AB: The Calgary Flying Club is hosting its first Wings and Wheels event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The first event will be sponsored by The Calgary Flying Club, Diamond Aircraft, and Calgary BMW. The event is at the Calgary Flying Club, 155A MacLaurin Drive, Calgary - Springbank Airport Hangar (C-YBW).

March 31, Ottawa, ON: Ottawa Flying Club Grass Roots Day: Building last year’s success, OFC is hosting an event (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) to introduce pilots and aviation enthusiasts to the many local organisations providing aviation services and support. Last year, the 14 presenters ranged from Hope Air, to the Ninety-Nines, to COPA Flight 8, and included Garth Wallace and a DA40. This year, we hope to have even more presentations for your enjoyment. We are also attempting to have Ottawa Airport landing fees waived. For more information contact the Flying Club at 613-523-2142 or e-mail info@ofc.ca.
