You can sync your engines by ear.
Just like setting our high speed needle by ear.
I have never seen a Rotax 185 burn a hole in piston from High EGTs but it may of happened before.
Set high speed needle for max rpm then about 1/8 turn rich or so.
Check plus to verify a good burn. med to light brown is ideal with 35 to 40 to 1 oil gas mix. Use mineral oil.
on EGT -- I am not sure what the spec is for temp and also you will be in R & D land trying to figure your EGT probe placement. Once you figure it out you might have had the plugs out 20 times and a few holes drilled in the exhaust header pipe. Worth the hassle>? not to me. But keep up informed on how it works.
