What would you recommend for the minimum level GPS
for my Lazair; not just in terms of money, but performance.

I use the Trimble Flightmate. They were made in the early 90s and you can find them for sale from time to time used. i paid $50 for my last one, and it has a remote antenna and tube mount. i have 2 of them now and they work great. handheld, run off 4AA batteries or external filtered power, and are pretty light.

i mounted mine on the single seater ahead to the right of the control stick.

i have since replaced the old Terra 720 radio with an icom A4 and have removed the fuse panel. i keep my old worn out seat cover for nostalgia :) whenever Karl pops his head in here again perhaps i'll order a new one.
