Hey guys,

I've got a small clip of flying my Lazair down around the Moab area. I think you guys would enjoy it. It's not very long, but is pretty cool. Is there a simple way to post it? I've never tried to post video before. It's in avi format (I think).

Thanks,

MarkDJ.

Tyler,

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that.

As far as coming down here, please do. It's a little lonely down here in Utah. Not many Lazairs, so many cool places to go see. There's room here for your bird and of course, room for you too. That's a heck of a long ways to travel (Canada). But I would like to do some flying up in Canada someday, so I could see someone doing it (like me for instance). I'm set up at a private airstrip completely surrounded by uncontrolled airspace (living the dream)

Canyonlands (as we call it here in Utah) are still a few miles from here. Took me 3 hours by Lazair just to get to the north end of the area. Then about an hour down to the most amazing, incredible area to fly an ultralight. Waaaay cool. I took over 1GB of pictures. Pretty amazing weekend. When all was said and done, I'd flown 640 miles in two and a half days (that's 15hrs 28mins in the Lazair).

I will never forget this flight. Simply unforgetable.

Mark,

WOW!!! Over 15 hours in a weekend. That's amazing. What I like is that you actually use your plane to go and do things. You pack up and go camping and sightseeing. These pics of the Colorado River are incredible. I look forward to the video.

Great stuff...
George

Hey Mark,

Like the guys have said- you get the coolest shots from your plane! The pictures that you have posted make me say wowwww dude! I can only imagine what it must be like to play canyon bomber, but who knows... one day!

Karl

p.s. Where the heck do you get gas out in the middle of that? Hee hee!

Thanks guys for the positive comments. A lot of people think I'm crazy. Maybe I am. I just like to fly. No, wait... I LOVE to fly. I hope I can live long enough to see most of what I want to see before I die. There's a lot out there in the world to see, so I hope to live a LONG time.

I'm still having trouble uploading the video. I tried to send it via my web-based email and it timed out. Probably too big of a file to send that way. I've never done this, so anyone that has - shoot me a pm or something.

Thanks,

MarkDJ.

Mark, Mark, Mark!! How fun is that. Sightseeing from a few hundred feet up at 32mph, how much better can it get.

Folks, you need to know that Mark is doing this with narrow gear and no brakes. Mark is a great pilot and has put in the hours on his plane to know it's limits. Otherwise I doubt he'd feel comfortable going where he goes.

Zoom in and you will notice in the reflection on the dual tach that you actully took a self portrait.

Great stuff Mark. Thanks for sharing!!!

How much better can it get? Well, how about some company!!

What da ya mean no brakes? I've got great Nike brakes! :D The narrow gear come in very handy sometimes. I feel I can land almost anywhere. I know I can crash anywhere, for sure. But I try to land so I can maybe takeoff later. ;) My only wish is to have the gear further forward. It is a real pain to land when the tank is low on fuel (goes right on the nose - I don't care for that much).

I hope some of the guys on here are seeing these pics and it's providing motivation. I know I needed some help when working on my plane. I "lived" to see pictures of guys flying their Lazairs around. I couldn't wait to try it out. Now look at me.

The Lazair does have limits, but I also feel it has a lot of strengths/capabilites that other types of aircraft just don't have. I've learned how to exploit those strengths, but I am still learning how my Lazair flies. There are many times I shake my head when I think about what all I've done with 18 horsepower.

Thanks Dale Kramer! Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way.

This picture is of the airstrip I ended up camping at. Really cool place. Petroglyphs, caves, and an old trail that Butch Casedy used back in the day.

Ahhh, what a beautiful place to camp and fly around.

Thanks for making the effort to take these pics. These are very fun to see.

Maybe we can work on moving your gear forward this winter. The Lazair is pretty tollerant on weight and balance as you know, but with a good portion of that weight right under your knees, you are just plain nose heavy.
