Back on the topic of Rotax CDI stuff...

Got typing with Bill today (lazair3ca i think here...) and we were talking about the CDI that his friend George installed on his 185's.

I just finished ripping apart the ignition systems on two of my JPXs and saw what Daffy did with his ignition system to update his Solo 210's. With both the CDI and the Solo upgrade, the coil inside the flywheel feeds a larger coil outside the block, then goes to the plug. My JPX had this already, a small coil inside which feeds a larger coil outside.

This must be how you get a stronger spark, just add another step up coil!

The electronics in the CDI box, all they do is replace the points and condensor... so in theory, if you threw in the Nova module ($15) and added another coil in the circuit ($40), would this perform as well as the CDI upgrade? (~$300)

Would be interesting to see and will be something i explore when i get around to my rotax 185's...
